Description

The Lovejoy LF30 Base Element is an OEM high temperature rubber element for Lovejoy LF30 torsional coupling assemblies. It mounts to a flanged hub, flywheel adapter plate or flywheel on the engine side and to a cylindrical hub on the driven side, and it is placed into compression during assembly. Rubber under compression carries up to five times the torque of an uncompressed element, which is how a unit this size reaches 4400 in-lb nominal. The element flexes up to three degrees to absorb angular misalignment and is electrically isolating, breaking the arcing path between driver and driven equipment.

Coupling elements are wear items. High temperature rubber hardens and cracks with heat, hours and misalignment, and once the element stops flexing, the shock loads it was absorbing carry straight into the pump bearings and back into the engine. Replacing the element on schedule costs far less than either repair. It ships complete with its mounting hardware and needs no lubrication in service.
