The LF30 Lovejoy Torsional Coupling is an OEM elastomeric flexible coupling from the Lovejoy LF series of torsional couplings, engineered for connecting engine flywheels and power take-offs to driven equipment in industrial power transmission applications. The coupling transmits operational torque from the driving shaft to the driven shaft through a flexible rubber element under compression, absorbing shock loads and dampening the torsional vibration that develops when reciprocating engines or pulsating loads pass through the drivetrain.
The LF30 serves across a wide range of industrial power transmission applications including diesel generator sets, rotary screw air compressors, reciprocating compressors, centrifugal and reciprocating pumps, industrial fans and blowers, forced draft fans, agricultural and forestry equipment, mining support equipment, marine drives, and engine-driven hydraulic power units. The coupling accommodates both shaft-to-shaft and flywheel-to-shaft drive arrangements, with hub options for cylindrical bored shafts on the driven side and flanged mounting on the engine flywheel side.
Element compound options: The LF30 element ships in several compound formulations to match application demands. The standard High Temperature Rubber (HTR) compound at 60 Shore A hardness is the workhorse selection for diesel engine driveline isolation. Neoprene (CR) elements offer chemical and ozone resistance for outdoor and marine service. Hytrel and Zytel elements are engineered for hot, oil-contaminated, or chemically aggressive environments where standard rubber compounds degrade prematurely. Element compound directly determines torque capacity and torsional stiffness for the application.
The Lovejoy LF series couplings require no lubrication and are maintenance-free in normal service. The elastomeric element is electrically insulating, preventing arcing between connected shafts in generator and motor applications. The unique air-flow design across the coupling assists in keeping the element cool during continuous-duty operation, extending element service life in demanding applications.
When to replace the LF30 element: Inspect the coupling at every scheduled service interval and watch for symptoms including elevated vibration during loaded operation, audible knocking or rumbling from the coupling area, visible cracking or hardening of the rubber element, deformation or set in the element profile, and signs of element wear at the hub contact points. Replace the element at the first sign of wear to protect the engine bearings, driven equipment bearings, shaft seals, and the substantial value invested in the connected equipment.
Direct OEM Lovejoy replacement. Hubs sold separately when ordering element-only. Available from Stark Industrial Products with same-day shipping on in-stock orders and 24/7 phone support at (903) 768-1111 to confirm element compound, hub style (cylindrical or flanged), and hole pattern (standard countersunk or S-Style) for your application.
