PS27Stromag Periflex Coupling

Description

The PS27 Stromag Periflex Coupling is an OEM coupling for flywheel-mounted drives on pumps, compressors, and construction and mining equipment. A steel connection ring bolts to an SAE No. 10 flywheel, teeth around the circumference of the natural rubber tire engage that ring, and the tire clamps to a steel hub on the driven shaft. Axial freedom between the ring and the tire teeth makes shaft positioning non-critical, so the coupling plugs in blind inside a bell housing.

The tire is the wear item. Once the rubber hardens or cracks the coupling stops absorbing torsional vibration and passes it into the bearings, shafts, and seals around it, and the cooling ribs molded into the tire surface stop moving enough air to keep it running cool. This is the factory component, dimensioned to fit the original mounting without modification.
