The Lovejoy SW150 Snap Coupling is a flexible coupling element used in conjunction with standard L150 jaw coupling hubs. The “snap wrap” design is the key feature: instead of being a one-piece spider that requires the hubs to be separated and the shafts realigned, the SW150 splits radially and wraps around the shaft between the two hubs. The included retaining ring snaps over the elastomer to hold it in place during operation.
For maintenance teams, this means a coupler element can be replaced in minutes without breaking the alignment of the driver and driven equipment. On compressors, pumps, and motor-driven equipment where realigning shafts is time-consuming, the snap-wrap design is often the OEM-specified choice.
The SW150 fits L150 size couplings with a 4.690 inch outside diameter and an 0.880 inch element thickness. It is rated for 1,240 in-lbs of torque capacity, up to 5,000 RPM, with a maximum 0.015 inch parallel misalignment and 1 degree angular misalignment tolerance. The standard NBR (Nitrile / Buna-N) elastomer compound is rated 80 Shore A durometer and provides resistance to oil, dirt, sand, moisture, and grease.
This complete SW150 assembly includes:
The NBR rubber elastomer element (snap wrap design)
The metal retaining ring that secures the element in place
The SW150 is a direct replacement for failed or worn L150-size spiders and is fully compatible with standard L150 hubs. Common applications include rotary screw and reciprocating air compressors, hydraulic pump drives, gearboxes, conveyor systems, and any motor-driven equipment using the L-line jaw coupling family.
During replacement, inspect both L150 hubs for jaw wear and hub damage. The Lovejoy installation guide for snap-wrap spiders specifies the proper “G” gap dimension between hub faces; verify this dimension when installing the new SW150 to ensure proper engagement and rated torque transmission.
