Description

The AT310811 John Deere Torsional Damper is an OEM torsional damper for John Deere crawler dozers and crawler loaders, also referred to as a transmission coupler. It sits between the engine and the transmission and absorbs the torque fluctuation produced by the engine’s firing pulses, along with the shock loading that comes with directional changes and hard loader work.

Torsional dampers are wear items. The flexible element hardens and degrades with heat, hours and load, and once it stops absorbing torque fluctuation, that energy carries straight into the transmission input, the coupling and the bearings behind it. On a crawler working full shifts, replacing the damper on schedule costs a fraction of a transmission repair. This is the factory component, dimensioned to fit the original mounting without modification.
